The pairings for Sandown and Bathurst have been confirmed by Penrite Racing, REPCO SUPERCARS CHAMPIONSHIP completing the 2023 Repco Supercars Series enduro grid.
Up until Wednesday, the 2023 enduro grid puzzle’s final component was who Garth Tander and Kévin Estre will drive with.
Tander will finally team up with fellow Bathurst champion Reynolds, and worldwide Porsche standout Estre will join rookie Matt Payne, according to Penrite Racing.
For his farewell start with the squad, Reynolds, who is leaving the team, will have five-time Bathurst champion and defending champion Tander by his side.
REPCO SUPERCARS CHAMPIONSHIP
Tander won the Great Race in 2000, 2009, 2011, 2020, and 2022; the latest two were at Red Bull Ampol Racing with Shane van Gisbergen.
With a combined 39 starts, the 2007 series winner and Reynolds will be the most seasoned team on the grid. The 2007 series champion will make his 25th and Reynolds his 16th appearances at Bathurst.
However, Penrite Racing also has the least experienced pairing, with rookie Estre making zero starts and Payne making one in 2022.
There isn’t a better endurance lineup, in my opinion, according to Penrite Racing Team Principal David Cauchi.
“We can’t wait to launch our endurance campaign with Matt, Dave, and Garth since their combined experience is of the highest caliber.
Garth has been working with us since the beginning of the year.
And as we learned more about the Gen3 cars, his feedback has been amazing. “Kevin brings with him extraordinary racing expertise and flawless driving ability, which have helped him achieve remarkable success. We are thrill to have him join Matt in driving our Mustang.
“I am happy to drive with Garth this year,” Reynolds exclaimed. He is the best there is, and we have known each other for a very long time.
“If there is one guy you want to be pair with for enduros, it’s him,” a source said. “He is extremely regard, his knowledge of the sport and his craft is great.”
It’s incredibly thrilling to be match with Kevin Estre, Payne continue. He has a ton of expertise under his belt and is somewhat of a global superstar.
REPCO SUPERCARS CHAMPIONSHIP
As we approach the enduro rounds, I am eager to collaborate with and learn from him. It will be amazing to combine our skills and see. What we can do in the second half of the year.
I also participated in some endurance racing overseas last year and always saw. His name near the top of the time sheets.
